Each year we provide seed grants to a small cohort of the most promising early-stage business and nonprofit housing innovations in the US

Intensive strategic advising

Selected organizations get six months of weekly support in navigating the policy & regulatory landscape, structuring their capital, fundraising, and building their organization for long-term impact

Build community & collaboration

We help our entrepreneurs work closely with government, housing industry leaders, investors and each other to influence housing affordability and equity on a national scale.

Who qualifies?

Ventures should be ready for growth.

Applicants should have a core team in place. The model should be well-thought-out and have been tested with promising results. The team should know the main opportunities and constraints their business faces.

Many types of organizations are welcome.

Ventures may be part of an existing organization or a new start-up. Ventures may be nonprofits or for-profit models.

All applicants must have a strong commitment to addressing racial and economic inequity.

This must either be a primary goal of the organization’s innovation and/or be integrated into the organization’s strategy and operations.

Application process

Determine if you are eligible.

1.
We work best with organizations that have already started to prove their innovation and are ready to grow. For more information on our selection criteria, visit our application page.

Submit an application

2.
Our first round application is just 10 questions. Applications for the 2022 cohort are due March 30th.

Diligence

3.
A subset of applicants will be invited to submit a secondary application with details on finances and growth plans. Top applicants will then participate in additional diligence.

4.
Our 2022 cohort will run from August 2022 to January 2023. The program is primarily virtual, but includes an in-person retreat in California in the fall and a closing event in DC.
